Organisational Backup

IT professionals argue that simply backing up data does not ensure data protection and security. Hence, mere copying important/ relevant data on electronic digital devices such as CD-R and DVD is not enough. Organisations need to have a multilayered approach to data backups. Once important data has been saved on to a storage device, it is essential to make a hard copy and keep it in a safe location – usually away from the office surroundings. • Administrative access controls: They ensure that only authorised individuals have access to the backup infrastructure.


• Physical access controls: These include physical security measures of swipe card systems and locks for data backup protection.

• Continuous backup


• Tracks data copying it from tape to disk enabling constant and quick data recovery


• Aims to provide secure data backup minimising data loss


• Continuous data monitoring for latest data backups. This has been incorporated in CDP to preserve copies of all prior versions of the data. The user has the ability to view and access these prior data versions as required/ needed. This CDP tool also shortens data backup and recovery time from hours or days to seconds or minutes. This, consequently, removes the obstacle of a backup window.
